RESIDENT EVIL AFTERLIFE AFTER CREDITS

Resident Evil sometime between 2013 to 2017
Considering that Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi previously said that the next installment in the Resident Evil franchise would be a reboot, having an RE6 released in four or five years may not be so surprising. To have it released in eight years, however, may raise some eyebrows though. In an interview with the Gadget Show (see Via link below for video), Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata honestly stated that the next installment for RE may be quite a ways off.
We haven't decided whether we're going to make Resident Evil 6 yet. But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years, but hopefully only four.
See, with a franchise reboot, they'd have to rework the gameplay system, the story, the characters, and lots of entire elements in their formula. For all intents and purposes, it's almost as if reboots are done by building from the ground up all over again, depending on how far you define "reboot" as.
So for now, it looks like we should enjoy the latest RE game (or previous others too) for all that it's worth - it's going to be a looong wait for the next one.
I wonder what kind of story the reboot will have though. Maybe they'll follow the one set in the Milla Jovovich movies? Hmm... Nah. Let's just hope the world won't end in 2012 before this baby comes out.
