Hotel Transylvania 2012

Hotel Transylvania Movie

Storyline
Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad.

Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters - Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more - can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem - but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count's teen-aged daughter.
"Hotel Transylvania" is about a group of classic monsters including Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula and the Werewolf who are hiding out in a hotel on the outskirts of Transylvania now that 21st century technology has seemingly made them irrelevant.

When 21st century technology renders a group of classic monsters frightfully ineffective, Dracula, the Mummy, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man all retreat to the sanctuary of a remote Transylvania hotel in this family-friendly release from Sony Pictures Animation.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA MOVIE
Hotel Transylvania is an upcoming animated movie directed by Jill Culton for Sony Pictures Animation. The film is based on a script by Don Rhymer. It will be released in theaters on September 21, 2012. Here's a first official plot synopsis of Hotel Transylvania:

Samurai Jack's Genndy Tartakovsky directs this animated tale concerning a hotel where monsters such as Dracula (Adam Sandler), Quasimodo (David Spade), Frankenstein (Kevin James), and his bride (Fran Drescher), along with a host of others, head to relax from a world full of humans. When a young man (Andy Samberg) stumbles onto the resort and falls for Drac's teenage daughter, comedy hijinks ensue. Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, and Molly Shannon co-star. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi
Plot Of Hotel Transylvania:
“Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula, and the Werewolf are among a group of monsters hiding out in a hotel on the outskirts of Transylvania now that modern technology has made them seemingly irrelevant.
Simon Van Helsing, the youngest in a long line of monster hunters. The last thing Van Helsing wants to do is fall in love with Dracula’s Daughter, Mavis. Upon discovering that they are natural enemies, the doomed couple attempts to bring peace between monsters and humans. In the end, each family will have some new blood.”

Who said being born mortal enemies had to stand in the way of romance? Anyway, let's hope that pictures of the film and maybe a first teaser will be released soon.

TED 2012

TED Movie

Storyline
A story centered on a man and his teddy bear, which comes to life as the result of a childhood wish.
Time to move over Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow, there is a new comedy genius about to make his movie debut.
Ted is Seth McFarlane’s (Family Guy/American Dad) upcoming directorial debut where he will direct Mila Kunis (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Adam Scott (Step Brothers), and Mark Walhberg. The R-rated comedy is currently budgeted at $65 million and will star Walhberg as a Boston man whose childhood stuffed animal/best friend has come to life and still continues to live with him 25 years later. McFarlane, who also co-wrote the film, will be voicing and providing the motion capture performance for the swearing, pot smoking, and delinquent teddy bear.

Kunis is reported to be playing Walhberg’s girlfriend, who “wants their relationship to move to the next level and finally has enough of him living with his best friend Ted.” The always great Adam Scott will be playing her boss, who she turns to for comfort.

TED is all about big ideas. Conference talks cover a wide spectrum of topics and styles, and have historically been given by some of the world’s most well-known personalities and brightest thinkers like Bill Gates or Al Gore. If there’s a negative blip on TED’s radar, which is arguable, it’s been maybe a bit of an elitist reputation—the notion that it’s put on by smart people, for smart people, and the masses are not invited. But now, with a new contest called “Full Spectrum,” TED aims to open up the speaker floor at the 2012 conference to at least one relative unknown.

That’s right, TED is accepting auditions for speakers. The 2012 conference theme will be “Full Spectrum,” which is their way of highlighting the “technologies, formats, and styles to make an impact on an audience.” In other words… they’re looking for speakers and presentations that stretch the traditional conference-speaker format into new territory.

Plot:
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish…and has refused to leave his side ever since.

Mark Wahlberg plays a perfectly normal Boston native whose childhood wish for his teddy bear to come to life comes true. The bear (Ted) — voiced by MacFarlane himself — remains his best friend well into his adult years. Conflict emerges when Ted’s irresponsible and vulgar slacker lifestyle comes in the way of his attempt to embrace his adulthood and the woman of his dreams, played by Mila Kunis. MacFarlane’s directorial debut will be a live-action effort with the exception of the computer-animated Ted. MacFarlane wrote the screenplay alongside his Family Guy colleagues Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.

"The story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear (Seth MacFarlane) who came to life as the result of a childhood wish… and has refused to leave his side ever since."

Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis have been spotted on the set of the movie Ted:
I'm addicted to the Family Guy TV show. So I'm quite impatient to see Seth MacFarlane's new film. I bet Ted will a damn naughty teddy bear: he will make us laugh out loud for sure. But am not so sure about Mark Wahlberg being cast: he isn't a funny guy... well, I guess it will highlight Seth MacFarlane's humor even more.
Anyway, more information about the movie Ted as soon as details emerge.

Ice Age 4 2012

Ice Age 4 Movie

StoryLine:
20th Century Fox has officially announced Ice Age 4 is moving forward and it’ll get released on July 13, 2012. Tentatively titled Ice Age: Continental Drift, the 3D animated movie was a given after the third film, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, made almost $900 million at the worldwide box office.

In fact, while some sequels make less than the previous film, each Ice Age installment has made more money than the one before. The original Ice Age made $383 million (worldwide), Ice Age: The Meltdown made $655 (worldwide), and I’ve already said the last one almost $900 million. That’s a staggering amount of money for a third film.

The other interesting note is the Ice Age movies have been getting released every three years since 2002. Using simple math, it’s safe to assume Ice Age 5 will hit theaters in 2015.
Ice Age 4: Continental Drift is the fourth entry in the Ice Age series, which will continue the zany adventures of the prehistoric animals.

Not a ton of details have been released yet, but it appears the characters will all be frozen solid in the past and thawed out in the present, and live in a museum in the present day.
You know what would be really funny? If it were scientifically accurate and the animals were thawed out and were dead.

Co-director of the last Ice Age film, Mike Thurmeier, will return, and this time work alongside Steve Martino on the new film. Martino last directed Horton Hears a Who! So you know he’s the best ever.

Michael Berg and Mike Reiss return to script the new film, so the quality overall looks to be pretty consistent.
Ice Age 4
Another "Ice Age" movie is heading to theaters in the next few years. 20th Century Fox has just announced that they are making the fourth film which is tentatively titled "Ice Age: Continental Drift".

This upcoming animation is slated for summer release, scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on July 13, 2012. Following the success of several 3-D movies lately, Fox plans to apply the same technology for the next "Ice Age" film.

Little has been known about the project beside the points mentioned above. No official plot synopsis has been released for the movie and the studio has not announced who will direct it.

"Ice Age: Continental Drift" will serve as a follow-up to 2009 "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs", which sees Manny, Diego and other members of their gang embarking on a mission to rescue Sid from a tropical lost world inhabited by dinosaurs beneath the ice. The third "Ice Age" film was named the second highest grossing animated film of all time with $884 million worldwide.

There is still no official confirmation as of today, but you can bet that a new Ice Age movie sequel is being planned by Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox. And actually some plot details of Ice Age 4 may have already leaked online!

Ain't It Cool News manage to get their hands not only on what could be the premise of Ice Age 4, but also on a possible title! According to them Ice Age 4 would be titled Ice Th4w, a pun on Ice Age Thaw and Ice Age 4, and here's the plot:
it seems a fourth Ice Age film has been well underway or the past few months. A friend of mine says the 4th installment sees Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Scrat frozen solid and accidentally defrosted in a museum in present day.

At this stage the film is being called 'Ice Age Th4w'."
I've mixed feeling about this plot of Ice Age 4... It would probably make for a really funny movie, and I can definitely imagine Scrat the squirrel going nuts for hazel praline chocolate. But I would be sad if our friends from the Ice Age were stuck in our time... I hope that thanks to some plot twist our furry heroes would manage to go back in time and avoid their4 frozen fate. Maybe thanks to some alien time travel machine? It wouldn't be so far fetched, we did see a UFO in the first film after all!

Besides they definitely need to go back to the Ice Age so the franchise can continue! And you can't separate the young Peach from her father!

So please, do bring Ice Age 4, but if the plot above is real, I beg you to allow our friend to go back in time to the Ice Age with their families.

Fox also announced that Scrat is getting its own short film, titled Scrat’s Continental Crack Up, it will be shown in front of Gulliver’s Travels, beginning December 25, 2010. The special holiday treat sees Scrat still scrambling after the cursed acorn he’s been craving since the first Ice Age film. Only this time, the chase has world-changing consequences. Forget what you’ve learned in geology about the continents forming as a result of massive tectonic shifts and volcanic eruptions tearing land masses apart. Scrat’s Continental Crack Up reveals that these seismic crack-ups came about from Scrat’s nutty misadventures!

Update 2 – The full short film is now available online for us to watch:
We now have a release date for Ice Age 4: the film will be released on July 3, 2012. Fox and Blue Sky even revealed the title: “Ice Age Continental Drift”. I guess it means that the idea of bringing the Ice Age team to present day has been tossed away, at least for now. Wondering what continental drift is? Here’s a short definition:

Continental drift is the movement of the Earth’s continents relative to each other. The hypothesis that continents ‘drift’ was first put forward by Abraham Ortelius in 1596 and was fully developed by Alfred Wegener in 1912. However, it was not until the development of the theory of plate tectonics in the 1960s, that a sufficient geological explanation of that movement was found.
Looks like our friends from the Ice Age will embark on a new journey. Are they going to be separated by the oceans because of continental drift?
ICE AGE 4 MOVIE
A tipster contacted AICN and told them that a fourth Ice Age movie is being planned! Here’s the most interesting part:

“Even though Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs hasn’t even hit theaters yet, it seems a fourth Ice Age film has been well underway or the past few months. A friend of mine says the 4th installment sees Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Scrat frozen solid and accidentally defrosted in a museum in present day.
At this stage the film is being called ‘Ice Age Th4w’.”

I’d love this see this plot carried out! And I like the pun in the title Ice Age Thaw: our Ice Age friends will indeed be defrosted.
This plot would sound as a closure for the Ice Age movie series though…

I wonder: would Scrat the squirrel go nuts for chocolate? I know I do!
Ice Age 4 Scrat Short Film
Fox is releasing a short film to promote Ice Age 4 Continental Drift. The short film, titled Scrat's Continental Crack-Up, focuses on the squirrel Scrat and reveals that he started the whole continental drift thing.
Fox and Blue Sky have announced that the movie Ice Age 4 will be released on July 13, 2012. They said the movie will be in 3D and they also revealed the working title, it's "Ice Age: Continental Drift". The studios execs prefer to play it safe and won't bring our friends of the Ice Age into a modern-day museum. Well it's probably better, because then there's still room for Ice Age 5.

The plot of Ice Age 4 Continental Drift will involve a new journey full of adventures.

Jack The Giant Killer 2012

Jack The Giant Killer Movie

Storyline
A modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.
Jack the Giant Killer is an adult take on the Jack and the Beanstalk fable. In the fairytale land, there is a peace between the giants and man, but when a princess is kidnapped, Jack takes a daring journey to the land of the giants to rescue her.
Jack the Giant Killer Movie
Director Bryan Singer will helm a new movie adaptation of the popular folk tale Jack the Giant Killer for Warner Bros. For those who don't know, Jack the Giant Killer is a British fairy tale about a plucky Cornish lad who slays a number of giants during King Arthur's reign. The Jack The Giant Killer movie will be a dark retelling of "Jack and the Beanstalk". There's no official release date yet.

A shirt from Legendary Pictures, believed to be for Jack the Giant Killer, was spotted during the last Comic Con, the tower looks definitely evil: There’s a new Jack The Giant Killer movie ahead of us. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and is starring Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, John Kassir, and Ian McShane. The film is a dark take on the popular folk tale “Jack and the Beanstalk”.

Ewan McGregor, Eddie Marsan Jack the Giant Killer Set Photos have premiered. Bryan Singer‘s Jack The Giant Killer (2012) set photos for Ewan McGregor and Eddie Marsan show the two actors in armor with swords in tow.

Jack The Giant Killer‘s plot synopsis: “A modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer (Nicholas Hoult) leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess (Eleanor Tomlinson).” The Jack The Giant Killer story has been filmed many times, going all the way back to 1962 version directed by Nathan Juran and starring Kerwin Mathews, Judi Meredith, and Torin Thatcher.

This version of Jack The Giant Killer also stars Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, Stanley Tucci, John Kassir, Lee Boardman, Christopher Villiers, Russell Balogh, Caroline Hayes, and David Frost. Look at the first Ewan McGregor, Eddie Marsan Jack the Giant Killer set photos below and leave your thoughts on them. Jack the Giant Killer will be released in theaters in the US on June 15, 2012.
Plot:
"When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her."

The young actor Nicholas Hoult got the lead role as Jack. The cast also includes Stanley Tucci as an evil king, Bill Nighy, John Kassir and Ewan McGregor.

There's a Jack and the Beanstalk movie from 1933 that's in public domain, watch it below:
Anyway more details about the movie Jack The Giant Killer soon!

“When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her.”
Jack the Giant Killer is supposedly a longtime dream project for Bryan Singer, and the screenplay was co-written by Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, so you know that he and Singer get along well. Nicholas Hoult, who Singer helped get cast in X-Men: First Class as Beast (Singer is still a producer on X-Men) will be playing Jack, and there are rumors of Ewan McGregor joining the cast. I hope he’s a mentor for Jack, and teaches him the ways of the force. I mean, the beanstalk.

I actually like the concept of the story, although I read the comic Fables, which is a better way to update and do something new/different with these fairytale characters. Jack the Giant Killer is the main reason why Bryan Singer didn’t direct X-Men: First Class, which he was reportedly interested in, but he was under contract to do Jack the Giant Killer. So if X-Men sucks, we can all boycott this. I’ll bring posters, you bring hot cocoa.

Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, "Brave" features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right. Written by Walt Disney Pictures .

Brave is set to be released on June 22, 2012 in the U.S. and Canada.
Like The Incredibles (directed by Brad Bird), Brave is a Pixar film not directed by the core group of directors at the studio. Brave‘s director is Mark Andrews, who previously directed the short, One Man Band.
Here are the details about Brave‘s storyline that have been released:

“A rugged and mythic Scotland is the setting for Pixar’s action-adventure Brave. The impetuous, tangle-haired Merida, though a daughter of royalty, would prefer to make her mark as a great archer. A clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father’s kingdom and her mother’s life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark, ancient curse to set things right. The storytelling wizards of Pixar conjure humor, fantasy and excitement in this rich Highland tale.”

The film stars Reese Witherspoon as Princess Merida and Emma Thompson as her mother, Queen Elinor. Additional voices include Billy Connolly as King Fergus, Tom Hulce as Prince Jeffrey, and Julie Walters as a witch.

This will be Pixar’s first fairytale film. In interviews about the studio’s upcoming projects, Lee Unkrich (director of Toy Story 3) has described Brave as “gritty,” so as is the case with Pixar do not expect a conventional “princess film.”

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In "Brave," a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson).

Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.
Brave Trailer
Disney Pixar has released the first official teaser trailer of Brave: Looks like the story of the movie Brave will be darker than what Disney Pixar usually produce. Still looks amazing, can't wait to see Brave!

Brave Movie by Disney Pixar
Update - Director Brenda Chapman kind of left the project but she will still receive a co-director credit. Director Mark Andrews has now taken over the film.

Brave is an upcoming 3D CGI animated movie by Disney Pixar. The film is directed by Brenda Chapman (who once brought us The Prince of Egypt): the movie Brave is the first Pixar production to be helmed by a female director. The release is scheduled for June 22, 2012.

Here's a first concept art of the movie Brave: Pixar are working on Brave (previously titled the Bear and the Bow), their first fairy tale movie. Director Brenda Chapman (who once brought us The Prince of Egypt) is helming the project. Here below a concept art and a logo of the movie Brave.

Plot:
"In rugged and mythic Scotland, the impetuous, tangle-haired Merida (Reese Witherspoon), though a daughter of royalty, would rather make her mark as an archer. A clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father's kingdom and her mother's life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark ancient curse."

The film, Pixar's first fairy tale, is said to be a combination of Brenda Chapman's love of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm, as well as a reflection on raising her daughter. Well, Pixar's take on a fairy tale will certainly bring a breath of fresh air to the genre. Pretty sure that Pixar will once again deliver a great animated movie.

    Cloud Atlas 2012

    Cloud Atlas Movie 2012

    Storyline
Six stories set in a different time and place become intricately related to each other.
Cloud Atlas is a collection of various tales spanning time from the 1850s to a post apocalyptic future. The story is based on a 2004 novel by David Mitchell.

No word has been given as to how the story will be told in the film, but in the book, there are a total of six stories told through a rather inventive storytelling technique. Essentially, the first half of the book is in chronological order, while the second half is in reverse chronological order. During the first half, each story is interrupted at some point and is revealed to be either read, seen, or otherwise experienced by a character in the next story. So characters in story 2 are reading a book based on the characters of story 1. Characters in story 3 read about story 2 characters, and so on.

The first story is during 1850. It is the tale of a man on his way home from the Chatham Islands. The second story is in 1931 and is about a poor Englishman living in Belgium, working for a composer. The third tale is in 1975, and follows a journalist in California. The fourth story is in roughly present day and follows a publisher who is running from the mob. The fifth story is in the future and it is about a robot working at a fast food restaurant. The sixth and final story is set in Hawaii after an apocalyptic event takes place and follows one of the last remaining people alive.

    Doesn’t sound complicated at all.
Cloud Atlas will be directed by the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer. All three are collaborating on the screenplay as well. Obviously, the Wachowskis made The Matrix trilogy and Speed Racer, but it’s kinda odd that Tom Tykwer is listed in the credit as well. I just looked this up on IMDB for the first time, and while I’ve been following the news of the film for some time, I’ve never heard of anyone else being involved, at least in terms of directing and writing, than the Wachowskis. Interesting. Also interesting is that Tykwer has relatively little experience, outside of writing some music for other films. Hmmm…

As of now, it appears that Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and possibly Natalie Portman will be in the film. I have no idea which timeline they’ll be a part of, but it seems like they’ll be separated.

    Cloud Atlas Movie
The Wachowski Brothers, are working on Cloud Atlas, an upcoming movie adaptation of the audacious and dazzling novel of the same name written by David Mitchell. The story weaves history, science, humor, and suspense through six separate but related narratives, each set in a different time and place. The movie can boast an impressive cast: Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw, Susan Sarandon, and Jim Broadbent.

    Plot:
The novel consists of six nested stories that take us from the remote South Pacific in the nineteenth century to a distant, post-apocalypticfuture. Each tale is revealed to be a story that is read (or watched) by the main character in the next. All stories but the last one get interrupted at some moment, and after the sixth story concludes at the center of the book, the novel "goes back" in time, "closing" each story as the book progresses in terms of pages but regresses in terms of the historical period in which the action takes place.

Eventually, readers end where they started, with Adam Ewing in the Pacific Ocean, circa 1850.
"A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified 'dinery server' on death-row; and Zachary, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilization — the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other's echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small."
"That's a project that's really exciting because all the actors will be playing more than one role. I actually have six characters in the same film and they are all different people in six different stories."

    Avengers 2012

    Avengers Movie 2012

    Storyline
The plot is a little thin right now, but the upcoming Avengers Movie is showcasing all the superheros in one movie. Not all the superhero’s are in the movie all at once, some are just cameo appearances such as Hulk. However, Iron Man should have a main role in the movie, as Iron Man 3 is a sequel to The Avengers.

Still, you can count on seeing lots of Captain America (ugh, that blows) , Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor and War Machine. Nick Fury will have a main role in the film as well, but he is getting his own movie later in 2012, so they won’t give him too much screen time.

Rumor has it the story is based around the Avengers fighting some alien race called ‘The Skrulls’ although this isn’t 100% confirmed yet. Here’s more info on The Skrulls from Marvel :
The first Avengers comic book was published in 1963. The team of superheroes, originally created using preexisting Marvel characters, variously created by writer-editor Stan Lee, artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby and others, has since thrived, creating its own universe.

Following the success of the Iron Man movie of the Incredible Hulk Marvel has confirmed its intent to produce a feature film based on the Avengers. The movie is slated for a release in Summer 2012.

The Director and the cast have not been unveiled yet. But we may fairly bet that three actors seen in previous superhero movies will reprise their roles, namely:
    - Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man,
    - Edward Norton as the Hulk,
    - and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Scriptwriter Zak Penn is in charge of the screenplay. It is likely that this Avengers movie will actually be based on the Ultimate Avengers series in which a black Nick Fury (in fact specifically tailored after actor Samuel L. Jackson with his permission from the start!) shapes the team to protect America against superhuman threats.
The coming years will be marvelous! With Iron Man 2 in 2010, and Thor and Captain America in 2011. They will be great movies but will also pave the way for the historical blockbuster the Avengers is going to be!

    Avengers Assemble!
    Avengers Trailer
The first trailer of the Avengers was actually stitched at the end of Captain America, you may now watch it online below:
A full movie trailer of the Avengers should show up soon. But this first teaser looks promising!
The comic con teaser trailer of the Avengers has shown up online. We get to hear Samuel L. Jackson's ever-sonorous voiceover (he plays the role of Nick Fury) and we also see the silvery-black logo of the Avengers:
Here's a transcript of what Nick Fury is saying:
And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat…to fight the foes no single superhero could withstand. On that day, The Avengers were born.
    Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson)

You may recognize Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
The cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Tom Hiddelston as Loki.

“Everything I had done [in the movie Thor] accorded with Joss’s idea of the character, too. I’m really so flattered that Marvel and Josh think I can take them all on. In Avengers, it’s going to be me versus seven of them, and I say ‘Good luck to them’, frankly.”
    _Actor Tom Hiddelston
What’s going to be Loki’s trick this time around?

The Avengers, the upcoming superhero movie set to assemble Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, will start filming in April 2011 in New Mexico.
The villain of the upcoming Avengers movie hasn’t announced yet. Could be Hulk under the influence of Loki, Thor’s evil brother. I also heard that the Skrulls could be involved. Well we’ll know sooner or later.
A transcript of what Nick Fury is saying:

And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when earth’s mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat…to fight the foes no single superhero could withstand. On that day, The Avengers were born.

    Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson)
What’s the threat the Avengers have o face? The Skrulls, Hulk or some other villain?

    Avengers Movie Behind The Scenes
Videos showing the behind the scenes of the Avengers movie have popped up online! Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans do their thing as Captain America and Thor, awesome fight scene:
Any idea who those guys in mo-cap suits are supposed to be?
    The Avengers vs Loki

Sounds like Loki (Tom Hiddelston) will be the main villain (or rather the master puppeteer behind another villain) in the upcoming Avengers movie:
"Everything I had done [in the movie Thor] accorded with Joss's idea of the character, too. I'm really so flattered that Marvel and Josh think I can take them all on. In Avengers, it's going to be me versus seven of them, and I say 'Good luck to them', frankly."
    _Actor Tom Hiddelston

I wonder what Loki, the god of mischief, deceit, and lies, will be up to in the Avengers movie, nothing good I guess...
Avengers Movie directed by Joss Whedon

Marvel has hired Director Joss Whedon (who's mostly known for his TV shows) to helm the upcoming Avengers live-action movie. Let's wish him luck then!

Other tidbit of news: Edward Norton has been ditched, it seems he's going to be replaced by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner aka Hulk in the Avengers movie.
    Avengers Movie Hulk
Kevin Feige revealed that Hulk would show up in the upcoming Avengers movie:
"My only concern is that when we launch a franchise–whichever character’s franchise that may be–it should stand on its own two feet… So by the time ‘The Avengers’ comes in 2012, it’s not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It’s three people – four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury – who you’ve seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time.

It's certainly our intention to use the same actors from film to film where we can."
    Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige

He doesn't tell if Hulk will be friend or foe, but my bet is, like most fans, that Hulk will be the main villain in the Avengers movie: a real showdown opposing the Avengers (Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America) to Hulk!

If Hulk does show up, Edward Norton is likely to reprise his role.
    Plot:
“When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.”

The full HD trailer of the Avengers will be online soon!
“And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when earth’s mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat…to fight the foes no single superhero could withstand. On that day, The Avengers were born.
    Avengers assemble!”
Oh my God! That teaser get me all pumped up for the Avengers movie: it’s going to be a hell of a movie with all those superheroes!

    Avengers Movie Cast
From Left to right: Robert Downey Jr., Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Director Joss Whedon, Producer and Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Agent Coulson assemble together on screen for the first time in the Avengers movie.

    Akira 2013

    Akira Movie

    Akira Movie Story
We’ve heard about a live action movie adaptation of Akira since quite a while, but the project was in development limbo. Well there’s reason to hope again: Warner Bros has hired the Hughes Brothers (who once brought us the Book of Eli) to helm the project. And Screenwriter Albert Torres is working on a new script. So hopefully, we’ll get to watch the movie Akira in a not too distant future.
An update about the Akira movie that we're still waiting for:

    • - the Hughes brothers have been hired by Warner Bros to helm the project
    • - Scriptwriter Albert Torres has been hired to pen a new screenplay for Akira

From what I heard they have some difficulty to come up with a satisfying script because of the complexity of the source material... So don't be too impatient, the movie Akira won't be released any soon...
I really hope that the planned trilogy adaptation of Akira by Hollywood will be even more kickass than the 1988 Akira animated movie: the Japanese animated movie was great but there is still a lot to exploit with Akira!

The Hollywood Reporter has a quite good plot summary for Akira, the animated movie:
"The story was set in a neon-lit futuristic post-nuclear war 'Neo-Tokyo' where a teen biker gang member is subjected to a government experiment which unleashes his latent powers."

The animated movie was an explosive mix: gorgeous ethnic music, amazing graphics, interesting characters and a vivid sci-fi plot. Check some of the videos to remember what was Akira:
I especially like the soundtrack of Akira by Geinoh Yamashirogumi, especially the tracks Kaneda and Dolls Polyphony!

I heard that the Hollywood movie would be closer to the Japanese manga comic book than the animated version. That is to say if you pass over the relocation of the story to New Manhattan, a city rebuilt with Japanese money following a cataclysmic event in a near future....

Anyway, in 2009, I won't miss the occasion to see Leonardo DiCaprio riding an hyper-boosted and hyper-high-tech red motorbike!
Warner Brothers will finally launch the production of the movie adaptation Akira, famousJapanese manga by anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo.
This adaptation should span over three movies, with at least the first instalment directed by Ruairi Robinson and scripted by Gary Whitta.

The first opus of Akira is being fast tracked for release in summer 2009.

Leonard DiCaprio, whose company Appian Way is also coproducing the movie, is likely to interpret the central role of Kaneda.

Like we said this movie is an adaptation: one striking difference is that the movie story will be set in "New Manhattan" instead of Neo-Tokyo in the Japanese manga.

Hard-line fans of Akira may object to such a change. But well, the movie adaptation is first targeting the American public. So such a change makes sense.

    Plot:
A live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s epic 1982 Japanese graphic novel and 1988 anime feature. The new adaptation is set in a futuristic and post-war city, New Manhattan. “Akira” focuses on Kaneda, a biker gang member, as he tries to stop his best friend Tetsuo from releasing psycho-kinetic powers that could destroy New Manhattan. The latest screenplay is being rewritten by Steve Kloves (Harry Potter films & The Amazing Spider-Man) from an earlier draft by Albert Torres. “Akira” is being developed by Mad Chance Productions and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions for Warner Bros.. Hughes brothers (The Book of Eli) Albert Hughes and Allen Hughes will produce with Katsuhiro Otomo serving as executive producer.

“The story is set in a neon-lit futuristic post-nuclear war ‘Neo-Manhattan’ where a teen biker gang member is subjected to a government experiment which unleashes his latent powers.”

On one hand I’m sad they they still haven’t released this live-action movie adaptation of Akira, but on the other hand they better take time to do it right, don’t want to the movie Akira to be a let down!
The Hollywood cinema adaptation of Akira that should be released in 2009 is said to be closer to the Japanese manga than the animated movie. But well, they’re relocating the story to New Manhattan, a city rebuilt with Japanese money following an horrible explosion in a not-so-distant future…. The purist can but feel dizzy…

Rumours circulated a few years ago about an Akira project which was all set untill the budget was calculated to be in the region of $300,000,000, after which it was dumped. Chris Norrington was meant to direct so it was a good thing the project was scrapped. Well that is until today. This page will keep you uptodate on the new developments for the Akira Live Action film.

Katsuhiro Ôtomo’s 1988 anime Akira is a film that is difficult to describe without using the word “classic”. The movie dealt with mature post-a-bomb themes that were omnipresent in Japanese culture but had yet to find a mainstream audience.

So imagine our surprise/overwhelming joy when we learned that a remake had been scheduled for a 2013 release, and in live-action no less. The remake is to be directed by twin dynamos Albert and Allen Hughes who found critical and commercial acclaim with 1993′s ode to street-hustlers, Menace II Society. The brothers Hughes’ latest offerings have found the duo dipping into the graphic novel arena with 2001′s From Hell and this year’s The Book of Eli. Neither film was particularly exceptional but did mark a transition that seems to be complete with the Akira project that is readying for production.

Well there is good news and bad news from Albert Hughes, who got to talking about Akira in a recent radio interview. The good news? Akira will be broken up into two movies. Why is this good news you ask? Akira originated as a manga (Japanese comic book) that is over 2000 pages long. Even the relatively faithful 1988 film omitted huge chunks of the plot, so hopefully this version will satisfy the Akira fanboys. The bad news? A confirmed PG-13 rating. Considering that Akira doesn’t have a particularly mainstream audience in America I can see little reason to limit the intense, and visually pornographic, machine-from-the-ghost visuals that made the classic animation so bad-ass. Red Tails 2012

    Red Tails Movie

    Storyline
The story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II.

Set in World War II, the story is about the African American pilots called Tuskegee Airmen based on true events. The pilots have to put up with discrimination from the military because of their colour. While the other pilots are on duty flying off to fight the enemy, the Tuskegee are left at base with planes which are not as good as their flying counterparts have and the pilots themselves are looked upon as being inferior pilots. Then as the Allied forces experience losses, the only answer is to call on the Tuskegee to help with their skills as pilots.
Red Tails is the story of the Tuskegee Airmen from WWII, who were the first African American fighter pilots.

I feel like this story has been told before, but still, the trailer looks pretty good.

I can’t tell if it will be a drama about race relations or an action film, but I’ve always wanted to see something in between. Well, not really, but I’ll still see it.

Essentially, during WWII, the US was losing a lot of planes to the Germans, and bombers were getting shot down before delivering their payload. This is bad. So the US Air Force decided to allow African Americans who had proven themselves in tests to fly actual missions. The Tuskegee Airmen distinguished themselves as courageous and capable pilots.

One thing. The trailer mentions that courage has no color. But cowardice is still yellow, right? I just want to be sure. You yella bellied bastards.
Anthony Hemingway is directing a screenplay by John Ridley, from a story by George Lucas. That’s right. Star Wars George Lucas. Expect slight deviations from history/logic. One of the black pilots is a Jedi, and he uses the force to avoid White Racist Vader’s attacks so he can blow up the Death Star.

And he has a light saber. It’s black and between his legs, but it’s made of LASERS.

Okay, so some of that may not be true. Can you decipher the clues and figure out who killed Roger Rabbit?
1944. As the war in Europe continues to take its toll on Allied forces, the Pentagon brass has no recourse but to consider unorthodox options -- including the untried and untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program.

Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, they are given the ultimate chance to show their courage. Against all the odds, with something to prove and everything to lose, these intrepid young airmen take to the skies to fight for their country -- and the fate of the free world.

    Bond 23 2012

    Bond 23 Movie

    Story Line
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in the film, which will be a MGM release of an EON production. Bond 23 is the latest installment in the longest-running franchise in motion picture history and will be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Fantastic!! James Bond is coming to a cinema near you in 2012. This popular and very charismatic British MI6 agent, code name 007, has managed to enthral us for many years. I wonder if Ian Fleming (1908-1964), the British author and ex-Naval Intelligence officer had any idea how his books would become such a huge success on screen. Inspiration came from all around Fleming because of his Naval Intelligence work, his first Bond book was Casino Royale published in 1953.

However the first Bond movie was Dr. No (written in 1958, the 6th book in the series) in 1962 and Bond was played by Sean Connery. There have been 7 Bond actors, Sean Connery being the first and Daniel Craig as the current one. The list of Bond actors are as follows; Sean Connery 5 films then George Lazenby who only did one film and was the only Bond to get married (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, 1969). The marriage was short lived as she was murdered in the car on the way to their honeymoon.

Then Sean Connery again for one film, and then Roger Moore who starred in 7 movies through the 1970’s going into the 1980’s. Timothy Dalton was next, he was only in 2 films and then it was the turn of Pierce Brosnan who did 4 films and finally Daniel Crag who up till now has starred in 2 but is set to return in Bond 23. Over the years choosing the right actor to play the quint essential English agent has been of the utmost importance, when the casting is correct everyone is happy if the public don’t like the choice of actor Bond. He doesn’t last long in the role.

When it was announced in the press that Daniel Craig was to be the new Bond, there were negative comments about how he looked, and little about his acting. It shows how seriously the British take James Bond as he is recognised all over the world. Ok, what can we expect from the next film? Well we know that filming will take place in India and New York is mentioned as well. As 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film series, I imagine that all stops will be pulled out on special effects and action shots. Whatever the plot, we can expect another exciting installment in Bond, James Bond 007, the spy we’ve all come to admire and love!
