Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Bin Laden Project 2012 October Movie Release Date
Sony Pictures has handed out an October 12, 2012 release date for the Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Project. The studio acquired the project back in May.
Director Kathryn Bigelow will reunite with The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal for this new story, which is based on the Navy SEAL Team 6's mission where terrorist Osama bin Laden was killed. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal were already working on a similar project, which revolved around the several unsuccessful attempts made to kill bin Laden. When SEAL Team 6's mission was successful, the script underwent heavy revisions and sparked interest from practically every studio in town before eventually landing at Sony.

It has also been rumored that Joel Edgerton has been circling the project, although it isn't known if he has officially signed on yet. It isn't known when production will start quite yet.

Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Project comes to theaters October 12th, 2012. The film is directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

Well, this one is moving right along!
As we've reported, Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal are working on a still-untitled movie on the Navy SEAL Team 6 team, and their ultimately successful hunt to kill Osama bin Laden, and now we're hearing that the flick will be getting an October 12th release date from Sony Pictures!
Seems a little quick, but the movie was well into production when the Al Qaeda leader was shot in real life, so the ending was re-written to match the events!
Very inneresting!
After the amazing Hurt Locker, we have high expectations for this one!
Here's hoping it doesn't disappoint!

Sony Dates Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden Thriller For October 2012
he new film from the Oscar-winning team behind The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, may not yet have a title, but it now has a release date. Sony has set the film for October 12, 2012, seemingly positioning the movie squarely as an awards contender. The film, called Killing Bin Laden (or Kill Bin Laden) at one point, was already in the works when Osama Bin Laden was killed earlier this year; at the time it was referred to simply as a small-budget black-ops thriller. A connection to Bin Laden was rumored, but denied. That stance was very quickly reversed, however, when the death of Bin Laden made any project chronicling that killing the object of great desire in Hollywood.
At this point we still know little about the project. Joel Edgerton will reportedly star, and the script is based on the communication Mark Boal has had with the actual Navy SEAL team responsible for killing the terrorist figurehead. We know the third act, originally conceived to represent a failed mission, was rewritten at the last minute, but beyond that specifics are few and far betwee
