In statements to FilmJournal, McG further reveals his plans to have the movie set in 2011, pre-Judgment Day. Skynet has figured out how to send non-Infiltrator Terminators such as Hunter-Killers and Harvesters through Time Displacement Equipment. John Connor is also sent back through time to fight the machines using present day military tactics and technology. While in the past, he meets up with the scientist played by Robert Patrick. Rumors have been circulating that the next film will take place in modern day London, despite the fact that both Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation state that Judgment Day happened in 2004.
“One of the problems is that in a post-apocalyptic world, everybody’s a little bummed out because your brother melted… your friends are gone. Everything went haywire. So the idea is to play with one of the tried and true rules of the franchise – time travel – and introduce it in this picture. I don’t want to share too much, but let’s just say it’s very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know. And I think that is a platform for great storytelling.
Because I always love it when [Kyle] Reese is in our world, as you saw in the first picture, and everybody thinks he’s out of his [expletive] mind and he knows and he can’t afford to be concerned. And he’s got to convince someone he cares about to come with him! And that’s one of the engines. And we’ll have a much more clearly defined antagonist in the new picture. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass. “
Mcg is taming down the potential plot (that was about an all-out attack/invasion of Future Skynet into our time) he previously revealed for Terminator 5. Now it sounds like John Connor would come back to our time with ‘only’ a nasty Terminator to chase him (yep like in ‘good old time’).
Well, he should stick to the invasion plot rather than planing one more useless chase movie.
TERMINATOR 5 MOVIE
Terminator Salvation isn’t released yet that Director McG seems working on developing Terminator 5 later on. Film Journal International, a trade publication covering the motion picture industry (I believe it’s a reliable source), met with Director McG to talk about T4. McG must have felt confident because he also dwelt on terminator 5, the movie sequel to Terminator Salvation:Terminator 5 Plot Revealed?
“I strongly suspect the next movie is going to take place in a [pre-Judgment Day] 2011. John Connor is going to travel back in time and he’s going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They’ve figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you’re going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be fucking awesome. I also think he’s going to meet a scientist that’s going to look a lot like present-day Robert Patrick [who famously played the T-1000 in Terminator 2], talking about stem-cell research and how we can all live as idealized, younger versions of ourselves.”
I hope Director McG is not telling BS just to create some buzz because I’d be damn thrilled to watch a Terminator 5 movie based on the premise above!
Director McG seems definitely overhauling the Terminator franchise for the best!
TERMINATOR 5 SALVATION SEQUEL
Hollywood does not wait anymore for a movie to be released before planing a sequel: and that’s the case for Terminator Salvation directed by McG and starring Christian Bale.
Director McG should be back for Terminator 5 and Christian bale should reprise his role as John Connor. Bale actually signed for a potential Terminator trilogy from the start.
Terminator 5 Movie in 2011
Terminator 5 is tentatively set for a release in 2011. I wonder then when would the Terminator 6 movie would then be released: they should try to film both Terminator 5 and Terminator 6 to reduce costs and like we would have both movies released the same year, would be so great.
Anyway, knowing that there will be a Terminator 5 movie makes my day!
"Terminator 5" is the working name of the announced sequel to Terminator Salvation. As of 2009, it is planned for a 2011 release. It will be made by Pacifior.
